- I have recently gained access to a laser etching machine which allows me to engrave artwork onto wood, acrylic, corian and other hard substances. I then use the etched wood/corian as plates to do traditional, hand-pulled woodblock and intaglio prints.The following images are the result of my first endeavor to exploit this technology. I am utterly amazed at the amount of detail that is achievable utilizing this technique. Once I become more adroit with the laser I'm sure the quality of the prints will increase. For now, I'm really excited with these results.

This image was my first test print using the laser.The image is a watercolor painting that I created a while ago that I re-purposed for this project. The almost photographic quality of the print, off of a block of wood, amazed me. In the following four images I hand-tinted the print with watercolor pigment.

Signed "Artist's Proof (2nd Printing)" : The "(2nd printing)" refers to the fact that when the original monoprint was made I ran the plate through the press a second time before re-inking it. This is the result of that "second printing".
